Planning Board Reviews

The Planning Staff assists the Planning Board in the review of applications under the Site Plan Review Ordinance, Subdivision Ordinance, Shoreland Zoning Ordinance and Basic Land Use Ordinance.  The following link will take you to all current ordinances.

The Planning Board is an administrative board which has the responsibility of reviewing all site plan and subdivision applications for conformance to all local land use regulations, as well as for conformance to State and Federal rules that may apply. In addition, the Board is the primary Town board with respect to amendments to Harpswell's land use codes and shoreland zoning ordinance.

The Board meets once a month, on the third Wednesday, to review site plans and subdivision plans, to hold public hearings on various applications for development or proposed ordinance changes, and to discuss topics related to growth management and community planning.

The Board meets at 6:30 p.m. at the Harpswell Municipal Building, 263 Mountain Road, first floor meeting room. In case of inclement weather and the meeting is cancelled, the meeting will be held the following Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. All meetings are open to the public.
