Coastal Resources Office
The Coastal Resources Office is responsible for the management and enforcement of Harpswell's 216 miles of nearshore resources. This office oversees and regulates the use of all moorings and floats, in accordance with the local Harbor & Waterfront ordinance, State Statutes and Federal Guidelines. This office is responsible for both the administration and enforcement of activities in all navigable waters of Harpswell. The Coastal Resource Office works closely with the town's Marine Resource Committee to manage and propagate a healthy shellfish resource consistent with the production of a reasonable yield to all shellfish harvesters. This office consists of a full time Harbormaster/Marine Resource Administrator, a seasonal Deputy Harbormaster/Marine Technician and two contract Shellfish Wardens that enforce compliance with the Municipal Shellfish Management Program and Harpswell Shellfish Ordinance.
