Vital Records

Certified copies of Birth, Marriage, and Death records are available at the Harpswell Town Clerk’s office. The cost is $15.00 for the first copy and $6.00 for each additional copy of the same certificate purchased at the same time. You may come into our office or request by mail at Town Clerk’s Office, PO Box 39, Harpswell, ME 04079.

　

How to request a certified copy

1. Download and complete the application you require:
Birth
Marriage
Death

   

Indicate the number of copies you would like (cost is $15.00 for the first copy and $6.00 for each additional copy of the same certificate.)

Attach a photocopy of your photo ID

Include a self-addressed business size stamped envelope

Make check or money order payable to the Town Of Harpswell.

Mail printed form, other documents listed above and payment to:

Who Is Allowed Access To Certified Copies?

The person named on the record

The person’s spouse or registered domestic partner

The parent(s) named on the record

Descendants of the person named on the record

The legal guardian of the person named on the record

The grandparent, sibling, step-parent, step-child, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, mother-in-law, father-in- law of the person named on the record

Certain others under specific circumstances, please contact the Town Clerk’s office if one of the above does not apply

Note: If requesting a record other than your own, in addition to proof of identity, proof of lineage/relationship is required.

Genealogy Searches

Birth, marriage and death records for Harpswell residents (if the event took place in Harpswell) are available from the Town Clerk’s office for $5.00 per record searched. If the record is found, the $5.00 fee includes a photocopy labeled "NOT FOR LEGAL PURPOSES." If you want a certified copy it will be $15.00, which includes the search fee.

Include all known information with your written request, including alternate spellings.
